- AVV wants to democratise collective bargaining agreements, so that every worker, not just member of labour unions may vote on the agreements and pension schemes. AVV wants to change laws and institutions so that independent workers have more rights, more bargaining power and access to the same tax benefits as employees.
- AVV wants better and smarter measures to fight discrimination of black people, older people and younger people on the labour market.
- AVV wants a fair division of tax burdens between working people and the pensioned.
- AVV wants more investment in permanent education, as an alternative for protection of jobs for people with a fixed contract. A flexible labour force is the viable way to a stronger economy, but only if employers, government and labour unions invest in people at the same time. Higher unemployment benefits for those who are in between jobs should also be the other side of the coin of a flexible labour force.
- AVV sees Europe as its base, not solely the Netherlands. AVV wants to contrinute to the thinking and developing of a strong European economy. Regulations and institutions that hinder the free movement of people can and should be lifted.
- AVV wants a place in the central advisory council for cabinet on socio-economic affairs, so that the perspective of young workers and freelancers is represented.

Like many other countries in Europe, socio-economic affairs are dominated by labour unions that mainly represent the interests of older, white males with a fixed contract. The outcome of many decisions favours employees with fixed contracts and pension burdens are shifted to the younger workers. Laws and institutions tend not to take into account that many people work for themselves, as independent workers. The agenda of the existing labour unions is not geared towards the future, but to protecting the rights of their members. People who are not member of a labour union are not allowed to vote on collective bargaining agreements, do not have a say in pension-schemes and have no means to advocate measures that favour independent workers. |

AVV ( Alternatief voor Vakbond : Alternative for Labour Union) is a newly established labour union in the Netherlands. This labour union stands for the needs of young workers, independent workers (freelancers) and European workers in the Netherlands. AVV wants to be a counterpart and a counterforce in the decision-making processes in the Netherlands. |
